how to link DIO hardware NI-usb-6501 with the labview DAQ assistant automatically

how do I link a digital input/output interface  hardware NI-usb-6501 with the labview DAQ assistant in labview 7.1 automatically. I thought one just clicks on the DAQ assistant and it is supposed to find the hardware but this does not happen it finds nothing. Also the connected light on my hardware shows the hardware is connected to the pc. The hardware also shows up as a usb device through measurement and automation using an NI_DAQmx 8.5 driver

Hi,

If the NI-USB-6501 shows up on the Measurement and Automation eXplorer it means that LabVIEW should know that the device is connected. When you place a DAQ assistant in LabVIEW 7.1, it should open "Create New Express Task..." dialogue box. If you set it up to Acquire Signal > Digital Input > Line Input, does the device show up on the physical tab?

Hi Kabul this is my problem. The NI-USB-6501 appears in Measurement and Automation Explorer as a usb device. Even through control panel and going to system and device manager it shows up. The  NI-USB-6501 does not show in the physical tab when I double click on a DAQ then click Acquire Signal> Digital Input > Line Input, nothing shows up on the physical tab. I have tried this on two PC's.

Hi,

Have you ever had daqmx base on your computer before? If yes or you don't know, please read this. I think this might be the source of you not being able to see it on daq assistant. Hope it helps.
