Error 200152 when running self test on MAX

I'm using a PCI 4472 connected through a MAGMA Single slot PCI Expansion Chassis (CB1H). There are no problems in detecting the cards, and laptop recognizing it. However, when I try to run a self test on MAX, the following message occurs:

"Error - 200152 occured at self test

Measurements: Data read from the EEPROM on the device is invalid"

I have tried out the card on a desktop system and no errors were encountered. Any pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks

Just a follow up to my post,

I have tried set the EEPROM through the DAQmx calibration info property node but whenever trying to reset it. The error would occur. Please do let me know if there's something wrong to what I'm doing. Thanks

Hello Scuzzy,

While I don't have a good answer for you, I wanted to get some more information from you.

1) Are you using the latest-and-greatest drivers from Magma for your setup?

2) Can you describe to me you physical setup a little more?  Is this PCI to a PCI extender or are you going from PCMCIA, Are you using the extender in a Magma chassis or is it just a backplane, etc?

Getting to the point where you are getting "bad data" returning from the eeprom lets me know that certain key parts of the driver are, indeed, loading first, so that is good.  Not having good communication to the eeprom is not an easy thing to point at and say "this is the problem", however.

Let me know about my questions above.  I'll see what I can find.  Hopefully someone else in the forum has had this before, too.

Hi Gavin,

The magma box is connected to the laptop through a cardbus that is connected in the PCMCIA slot and I'm also using the "latest-and-greatest" drivers from Magma :).

Not meaning to promote their products (I'm not an employee or shareholder in any way!) but here's a link to the product I'm using:

I've tried the setup on a Dell Latitude D820 (with and without docking station) and also a Compaq NX6330 (without docking station). Both produce the same error.

Furthermore using a 3rd Party software (PCISCOPE) to diagnose if there are any PCI issues, the Magma cardbus card and the chassis are
detected as well as the NI card. It shows in Device Manager there are no problems and no yellow flag, which means everything is configured properly.

I'm running out of ideas in troubleshooting this device. Appreciate any help/advice/ideas to this issue. THanks

Sorry for this continous update but I just want to update the latest as not to cause any confusion...

I've tried this card back on the desktop and the same error occurs!. Is it possible for me to send back the cards for investigation with NI? How do I proceed with it after this?

Thanks.

Just another follow up:

Basically the sequence I tested is as follows:

- Put card on desktop (No errors detected)
- Remove card and place into Magma box (Error 200152 detected when running self test. Open test panels to try to force to acquire also is unsuccesful)
- Put card back to desktop (Error 200152 detected when running card test. However switch to Test Panels and force to acquire each channel and then return to Card Test no errors would be detected).

I'm pretty stumped as to what would trigger the Error 200152 when running on the Magma Box can anyone explain. I need to get the system up urgently. Thanks.

Regards...

Hi,

Are you using Calibration Executive? If so, what version? Read this.

Also, to make sure, when you connect this MAGMA to your laptop, you do have it powered down right? The fact that it works without any issues on the desktop suggests that there might not be anything wrong with the PCI-4472.

Let me know if this helps.

Scuzzy,
It is very possible that you will need to send in your board to NI.  First, what revision is your board?  This is a one-letter revision that should be on a sticker on the back side of the board.  The number on the sticker will be long, followed by a letter, a dash, then something like "01".  The letter is the revision number of the board.  Please let me know when you find it.  If it is a fairly old board, the repair process will replace your eeprom with a newer version (fixing a few errata over the years) Smiley Happy and re-calibrate your board.  When we know that you need to send it in for RMA, you will need to discuss with a customer service representative or an applications engineer to get that process going.

Hi Kabul,

I am not using a Calibration Executive. However I have tried that solution proposed before. Even in Labview the error is generated once I execute the codes.

Yes My notebook is powered down when the MAGMA is connected to the notebook.

Hi Gavin,

The boards are revision 01 boards. I have tried 2 type of boards and both gave the same errors when running with the Magma Box.

Besides this I also have tried:

- Updating the BIOS
- Trying to run with the anti virus off.

Is there anything else that I can try?
