New SVT

I can't find any document stating the improvements and enhancements between version 4.0 to 6.0 of the Sound and Vibration Toolkit.  Any opinions on why to upgrade to 6.0?

Hi Matthew,

You can go to the following sites to try Toolkit version 6.0 for free: Experience NI Sound and Vibration Software or Try LabVIEW Add-Ons FREE Online. This site has a list of the current toolkit version’s features. Lastly, I have attached the read me file from Version 6.0 which lists the new features between version 5.0 and 6.0.

I hope that this helps, Mallori M.

Thanks again.  I did multiple searches on NI's WEB site and couldn't find this information.

Since Sound and Vibration Toolkit is a toolkit and not a driver, the read me files were not online. Since I actually have these versions of the toolkit, I attached the read me files that came with them, but you can go to the Product Suggestion Center from the Contact Us page of the website to put in a request that this information be made available online.

The new features that have been added to the NI Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite are:

·         Order analysis support in the NI Sound and Vibration Assistant 6.0 – discussed further in detail in the next section.

·         Torsional vibration LabVIEW VIs – torsional vibration is a common phenomenon for rotating machinery such as engines, compressors, and turbines. Rotating components, such as shafts and couplings, rotate when torque is applied.  Monitoring these torsional vibrations in a rotating system helps to ensure that the system operates properly.  (Not available in the SVA 6.0)

·         Human Vibration Weighting Filters LabVIEW VIs [ISO 8041:2005(E)] – human vibration refers to the effects of mechanical vibration on the human body. Measuring and analyzing human vibration signals can help control the negative effects of mechanical vibration on the human body.  (Not available in the SVA 6.0)

Sound and Vibration Assistant 6.0 – New Features!

The NI Sound and Vibration Assistant 6.0 (SVA) is a stand-alone interactive software environment for quickly acquiring, analyzing, and logging acoustic, noise and vibration data, and machine condition monitoring (Order Analysis – only with SMVS 6.0).  The SVA is included with both SVMS 6.0 and SVT 6.0.

The Sound and Vibration Assistant includes a full copy of Signal-Express 2.5.1 with added functionality for sound and vibration analysis from either the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite.  The program does not need Signal-Express 2.5.1 or LabVIEW, it runs stand-alone.

The new features that have been added to the NI Sound and Vibration Assistant are:

·         Order analysis support – only available with the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite.  This support includes: tachometer processing, order power spectrum, order tracking, and order extraction.  This provides customers with a simple and easy to use solution for Machine Condition Monitoring (MCM) applications.  It also allows us to easier sale to the portable machine diagnostics market.

·         Japanese Localization – as part of the “Japan Ready” project.  The NI Sound and Vibration Assistant 6.0 is available entirely in Japanese.  This includes all features, steps, and help files. (the sound and vibration LabVIEW VIs are still only offered in English).

·         New Plots – waterfall plot, bode plots, and spectral maps have been added to the NI Sound and Vibration Assistant.
