My first question is do we have to reinstall LabVIEW for the 2011 season? Or can I just use last years and run the LabVIEW update and install the new tools with the update for that as well?
Next- Our last year's cRIO is having some issues. We tried to open it in MAX, and we can read it, it's mac adress, and it's RAM. It's IP is 0.0.0.0 and this refuses to change after rebooting. The FRC imaging tool also returns errors about the IP. We can change the name of the cRIO and it does stay after rebooting. Formatting through MAX also doesn't seem to do anything.

You need to install LabVIEW from the DVD, then install the update. Both are required.

Have you double-checked that the IP Reset DIP Switch is in the OFF position? If you try manually assigning the IP address in MAX, and rebooting the controller seems to reset to 0.0.0.0, then I would suspect that is the issue. Otherwise, could you upload a screenshot of the error from the imaging tool?
Thanks!

My LAN was set at 10.2.47.6, with wireless turned off.
The IP switch is off, although we did toggle it at points to try and get it to register an IP. All dipswitches are also in the off mode.

It appears by your attached image that your cRIO is in Safe Mode, which would imply that the Safe Mode DIP switch is ON. Just as a sanity check, can you verify that all of the DIP switches are in the OFF position (i.e. the switch is depressed on the side that says OFF)?

It is indeed in the off position, and the frc imager put it into safe mode.

How are you connecting your cRIO to your computer? Crossover cable? Through the router? Over the wireless? If you are connecting over the wireless I highly recommend connecting it with a wired connection to ensure that no information is lost. Also if you are connecting with MAX, check to see if you are set to static or DHCP. If you are set to static with 0.0.0.0 that could be the issue.

It won't be recognized in my particular laptop by a direct connection, only
a wired connection (normal Ethernet) from my laptop to a router, which is
directly connected to the cRIO. This is our normal tethered connection. We
tried changing the ip in MAX this way, and we tried setting it to dynamic,
then using the imaging tool, both have failed.
Beforehand, this method would work for imaging.

When you are connecting directly to your computer are you using a cross-over cable or a regular ethernet cable? For directly connecting, you need a cross-over cable, and when you connect through a router you use a regular cable. When you tried to change to DCHP in MAX, did the IP address change, or did it give you an error? Does it give you any other messages such as connect, or running?

The cRIO is using a normal cord to the router, and another normal to my
laptop from the router. Would directly connecting with the cRIO via
cross-over be worth a try? And when we set it to DHCP it still wouldn't get
an IP (we couldn't FTP through MAX either)
Under the status menu, it reads "unconfigured" when it isnt intializing.
