Device Properties dialog, web address, manufacturer name...

Hi,

I'm curious where the manufacturer info comes from in the Configurator 'Device Properties' dialog box.
(That's the box that appears when you double-click the device in the left most pane, that shows an image and gives some info on the device like manufacturer, etc.)

Does this come from something I must update in Configurator?  An update containging info on new manufacturers of Fieldbus devices? (Which we are)
or does configurator do this on it's own somehow?  Should this be in the DD files?

Current the dialog only shows our code number, not our name, and the web link is grey.  We are about to certify our device with the FF.

Is an image typically part of this package or must the user always configure that?

If this works like the HART 275 handheld, there is some update that the FF distributes to customers with this info.

cheers,

After you install Conifgurator, you can find such a file \National Instruments\NI-FBUS\Data\mfr_info.txt. The manufacturer name and web address both come from this file.
You can import image for your device in Configurator software by double-clicking on the image field. All the images are stored in \National Instruments\NI-FBUS\Data\ImageRes\

Good to know, but can this info be update in some automated manner by a user, rather than manually editing the 'mfr_info.txt' file?

Good idea. Maybe we can implement this feature in the future.
