Dot NET class help for NI Foundation Fieldbus Communication Manager

In the NI-FBUS Hardware and Software User Manual chapter 5 there is a reference to detailed info about the .NET classes provided for use with the NI Communications Manager. The manual states "For detailed information of the class libraries, please refer to the Help of NI-FBUS Software .NET Library."

Where is that help file and how can I access it? I am developing programs under Visual Studio 8.0 using VB.NET that need to use these classes, and I can't find the help anywhere.

Hi,

The help file is located at NI-FBUS_INSTALL_DIR\MS. NET\doc. NI-FBUS_INSTALL_DIR is where your NI-FBUS software is installed.
MS .NET\example directory also contains the .NET API examples.

I looked where you said but there is no doc folder or file there. I re-installed the software to make sure I had everthing, but no doc folder or file was found. Where can I get this help info?

Hi,

Can you see MS. NET folder under NI-FBUS installation directory?

Please make sure that NI-FBUS Software Development Kit and related example has been installed. You can confirm this by running NI-FBUS installer.

- In Select Installation Option dialog, select Custom, click Next.

- In Features dialog, make sure that NI-FBUS SDK and Examples are selected. If there is a "X" icon ahead of this item, please click and select Install this feature to a local drive.

The attached pictures,  "1. Choose Custom Installation Option.JPG" and "2. Install SDK and Example.JPG" are for your reference. 

In NI-FBUS installation directory (On my computer, the path is D:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-FBUS\), there will be a subfolder MS .NET, which contains a subfolder doc.

Please see attached picture "3. NI-FBUS Directory Tree.JPG" for the directory structure of .NET library.

The .NET API help files are in HXS format (Microsoft Help 2.x file).  You can view this help file using some freewares, for example, "MS Help 2.0 Custom Viewer".

MS .NET folder also contains a another subfolder, examples. You can find example applications built with NI-FBUS .NET library. These examples show the usage of .NET APIs and are very useful for your development.

Thanks for lookiong into this form, but I did what you showed in your note and the folder still isn't there  . I removed all of the National Instrument software, then re-installed it and regestered etc..., but there is still no doc folder under the NI-FBUS_INSTALL_DIR\MS. NET\ folder. See JPG's. I have a number of 3.2.1 cd's and I tried them all, to no avail. I there any other way for me to get this help file ? Sorry, but I'm under some time pressure here.

I have attached two JPG's showing the installed SW and what ends up in the folder.
