Change in Tab Behavior?

Solved!
Go to solution

I noticed something different between last night and this morning.

I'm using Firefox 72.0.2  (I don't believe this was updated overnight).

In the past and up through last night, I would regularly control-Left click on links in the forums to cause that message thread to open up in a new tab.

Today it is ignoring the left click and opening in the same tab.

Other websites, control-left click is opening up the links in a new tab.

It seems control-scrollwheel click opens up in a new tab, but that feels awkward and is not in my muscle memory.

Has something changed in the forums related to the message thread links to cause a change in behavior?  I'm thinking it is a forum thing because, like I said, the behavior of other websites seems to be like it has always been.

This was not an intentional change. We are looking into what may have caused it. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

This is the first thing I noticed on the forums this morning! I'm using Chrome Version 79.0.3945.130 (Official Build) (64-bit).

It's not just message links for me, but also if I click on different forums, like LabVIEW or BreakPoint, or even signature hyperlinks, I notice the same behavior.

That last blank message was me in Internet Explorer.  I had typed up a message, discovered a few things.  The the message disappeared after posting.

This time I'm in Firefox again.

What i found was Chrome didn't work either for me just like Gregory said.  Internet Explorer seemed to be fine (at least until I tried to reply in Internet Explorer)

I highly suggest getting used to middle clicking.  It has become my muscle memory, and only requires one hand.  I've seen many touch pads with a middle click too.  Also you can close a tab with middle click in most browsers too.  But unexpected change can cause problems.  MIDDLE CLICK ALL THE THINGS!

Are you seeing this behavior (posts disappearing in IE) elsewhere in the Community as well? We are not currently able to reproduce it and this is the only report we have heard.

I saw the quote button problem happening in the LabVIEW board and also the InsightCM board.

I also saw the disappearing parts of the message when using the macros.

I decided maybe the problem was related to still being logged in on Firefox while experimenting while logged in on IE.  So I closed out Firefox.  The macro problem went away then, but the quote button problem persisted.  It looks like a clicking it makes the line I am on jump down a little bit.

So I'm not sure how repeatable the pieces of message disappearing with the macro button truly is.

But the quote button issue seems repeatable.

Just for another data point, I am NOT seeing this issue.  I use Firefox 68.4.1 ESR.
