That thought crossed my mind while typing as well. I will probably be drinking heavily and working on my "Quick-Drop Tutor."

"Quick-Drop Tutor"

It is a VI that I started writing on Friday night so that I can haness the power of the new Quick-Drop (QD) function that is now built in to LV 8.6. Quick drop lets me define short-cut key sequences to drop LV operators on the diagram. Example:

I hit the key-comb "ctrl-space" to bring up the QD dialog...
type "ab" and click on the diagram and a "Build Array" node appears on the diagram.

I have determined which functions I use most often and have developed a set of short-cuts for them. The QD Tutor will (eventually) run in three modes.

1) review mode - It displays one of my operators and let me try to remember the short-cut. I then press a button and it shows me the correct short cut (done).
2) Tutor Mode - It will show me the image and I have to type the correct short-cut. Any short-cuts i get wrong get put back in the stack, else that icon will not be shown again.
3) Time-Mode - It will show me the icon and time how long it takes for me to get them all correct.

After I have trained myself I hope to be able to develop diagrams (quoting my wife ) "bloop, bloop, bloop".

I have a back-up plan to re-plumb the gas lines if I get board. Smiley Very Happy Its a lot like LabVIEW but "leaks" and "projects blowing up" are more important.

Hi all,

Just wanted to mention that this is an ni.com downtime and not Discussion Forums - which is why you should be able to view the forums.  The log in ability resides on our website which is what will be down (along with everything else on ni.com).

However, we plan to do a forum upgrade sometime this week but the downtime is only a minute or two in duration.  We will get some minor new features and bug fixes but it will open the door for us to start working on the ratings change.  Once the upgrade has occurred I'll post pointing out the features and bug fixes.

Thanks,
Laura

Excellent! That's progress.

Here is a link to a video of Darren using Quick-Drop.
