Give flag options to job openings forums on Discussion forums

It would be great if NI provides options for flags as in other threads (Solved flag).

This would inform the user when he posting against a job opening if it is still open

otherwise he could avoid that.

Sundar.

Another solution would be so that moderator or even thread author would have opportunity to close thread with job position which is no longer available.

Yup nice suggestion. One more existing option that can be implemented immediately is to make the thread a read only one for everyone expect the autor. He can always come up with position still open message.

And thanks for starting this thread.......

The people posting the jobs would have to be educated to re-visit the thread and close it once they have found someone.

It's a good idea.  I don't know how well it will work, and we may not know until we try.

Its a good option to make this a read only thread.

but should have some mandatory fields such as

  1. job descriptions
  2. pre requisite
  3. location
  4. contact person details
  5. work duration

and any other details might be required; to avoid follow

ups to the same thread. Set permissions to

continue thread only to author . And automatically lock the

thread after 2 months since that would be void most of times

since the position would have filled by then.

Sundar.

I totally agree with you Sundar.

-sigh- If only the people posting jobs would do it right the first time, maybe only the job poster would be allowed to continue posting in that thread and stop all these programmers wannabees from flooding the forum with resumes that will never be read.

Suggestion provided by Sundar is quite good I think. I think the one of the solution might have been having some kind of template for a first post, maybe form based thing with plenty of required fields ?

From past experiences..

When posting a job, some people don't even bother reading the job requirements.  And there is a distinct pattern.  It doesn't take much of an IQ to see the pattern.  I have ABSOLUTELY no respect for idiots who do not bother to read the requirements for the position being posted and flood their resumes for a position for which there is no chance in hell that they would ever get.

You can't create a forum or job site that filters out idiots...  Which is why they turn out to be the people that are desperate for jobs.  I hate to sound negative on this but someone has to say it as it is.  Just read the threads..  Look at the pattern.  And do not use "language barrier" as an excuse..

You can create rules all you want...  Idiots will remain idiots..  Just like an apple tree grows apple and orange trees grow oranges... You cannot change nature...  Even nature of human..

NI could close that thread once the content of that thread became obsolete. To be frank, most of the people cannot go through the whole 5 page thread comments and replies. It wouldn't be appropriate to

put the whole blame on those who replied(though its odd to reply to a job opportunity posted almost 18 months back!!!)
