LeaderBoard - May 4, 2008

Hi Everyone,

In addition to attaching the latest LeaderBoard, I'm also attaching a file that shows the average posts per day between the April 20 and May 4 LeaderBoards, based on some comments I read in a post on BreakPoint.

Take a look!

Has anyone else noticed that in trying to open the leaderboard file, an error message pops up saying Microsoft Excel,  File not loaded completely?

This happens whether opening the attachment directly from the web browser, saving the file to the hard drive (defaults to .xls extension) and opening it up, or taking the downloaded file and renaming to .csv extension and opening it up.  Clicking OK allows Excel to finish opening it, and the file seems to be otherwise intact.

Hi Ravens,

yes if you open it with excel you will get this message, because excel has only 65536 rows. You can open it, with the editor without an error message. Smiley Happy

Hi all,

(older) MS-Excel would be able to load the csv-file without any error messages when there wouldn't be this long footer of empty lines (only containing ",,,,,,,,,,,,,,").
At the moment there are ~61000 users listed...
Best regards,

Yep, that's it.  9585 rows of nothing about 140 KB.  I didn't think of it being over the Excel limit like Mike had said because once it opened, it looked intact and had plenty of room for more rows at the bottom of the excel sheet.  I just never looked at the file in notepad.

Hi raven,

it's clearly the (older) Excel limit of 65535 lines: ~61000 active (?) users and ~9600 empty lines make Excel scream for help...

I wonder where those lines come from. Changed routines to parse the user accounts? Forgotten to remove empty lines?
Best regards,
GerdW
