Naming the Next Rank

Yes I am only 400 from the 5K mark so I should not complain but....

To post 5K (that is more than 2.5 time the top NI contributor) and stil be shackled by the bars... may be non-motivational in the end.

Can we get a nice shiny star super-imposed over the center bar when we get there?

I vote for the Holy Hand Granade.Smiley Very Happy

Please everyone, don't take anything that I say very seriously. I really have no preference. I just liked Ben's whole Knight's of NI idea when he first brought it up and I am a huge Monty Python fan. I also needed a laugh as I wait to see what happens in the next layoff or which other project of mine will be canceled. Smiley Sad

But there is a level - at 2K you become a Proven Enthusiastic Veteran. I think that is enough and should not be changed. I'm also quite sure that the other members would it not to be changed, because this system has proved it's worth.

Anyway - this whole thread is about what comes after the PEV and not before.

I agree with Becktho.  Why change what exists???

I don't care if anything exists after PEV.  But if there is, it should be no sooner than 5K posts.  Something in the order of Proven ______ Veteran.  Then at 10K posts you become a Knight.  Ya gatta give Ben something to look forward to 😉

Glad to read that Dennis has a sense of humor... that means he cannot be a machine 😄

As for the comment on 1K or 2K posts and being a newbie, well I have many answers and I'm still a newbie!!  I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm still learning a great deal.

(Oh boy!  I should have kept quiet)

Surely a few of us will not complain if a new rank is introduced at 1K Smiley Wink

Its a long journey from 500 to 2K, one pit stop and new tyres will do a lot good! Smiley Very Happy

Hey,

I would do, but it's not all about LabVIEW!!  It's about all NI Hardware and Software.

(anyway I think we have moved onto the the Proven_(Insert here)_Veteran question.)

Laura, what's next?  Should we get a final suggestions list and post on a new forum with everyones preferences? (say here's a list, list your top three in order?)

Just a suggestion

Really?

What if an evil C-programmer jumped on your back and attempted to byte the cup off of your finger? Smiley Surprised

We have opened this discussion up quite a bit and as a result have touched on some interesting ideas.

In addition to the Q at hand "What new title for the 5000 level?" we have ideas for icons as well.

RE: the new rank at 5000

We can start by reducing the list to the top 3-5 suggestions.

Laura,

Could you post a preliminary poll with anouncements on Monday 13-Nov-2006 that lists all of our ideas.

If the preliminary polling does not have clear cut winner, lets use the top 3 for a final poll that lets choose from those 3.

I believe you said we do not have to stay with the "bar" theme for icons, so while the poll is happening we can knock about ideas for the icon.

So sometime in December we should have come to agreement on what the title will be and have ideas for the new icon.

Another thought (oh no! Smiley Surprised )

There is nothing stoping us from adopting the Knightly theme in the icon for 5000.

Ben

BTW: For those of you old enough to remeber, brainstorming with y'all is great fun! It's like living in a Levi Dockers commercial. Smiley Very Happy

PS: Please note the post times! Adam and I semm to be on the same page.
