Hi,
in the last time I cannot send private messages because of this error:
Thie first time I encountered this problem I was trying to send a message to a new forum member (with just one message in the forums), so I thought that new member misconfigured its account.
But now I cannot even send a message to Zou, which has been long around in the forums… (I was trying to reply to a message I got from him!)
What's the problem here?

Same here. But I haven't tried any other PM messages in a while. Is it possible he went and disabled reception of private messages? I would hope he hadn't since he took the time to send a PM.

No matter what, the error message is confusing because it says that names have been removed because they don't have messaging enabled. Since zou is still listed, this name has NOT been removed. Was there originally more than one recipient in that field? Were you able to send just to zou after that error?
Still, probably just a bug and the message is actually meaningless 😉

Just zou. And I had tried to make a new message from scratch going to zou, but that failed as well. I didn't try anyone else because I didn't want to bug them with a message.

Hi GerdW
I would like to clarify, after we looked more into this that we noticed that the reason why you couldn't message Zou was because this user has his private messages turned off.
It looks like if a user turns off private messaging, they can still access the inbox if they have the URL, and from there they can send private messages. So while they cannot receive messages, they can still send them.
Besides that, there is the issue of the error message stating that the name has been removed but not actually removing it.
We have escalated this issue accordingly. We will keep you updated with any new information.
