"Posts" inconsistent

Noticed something weird when I was looking at the number of posts Ben has here.  Looking at myself, if I hover over my name in any of the forums, I see my number of posts at 20901.  But my profile and the NI Community Users search show me at 23565.  Numbers are not matching up for at least 2 of us (I haven't looked at anybody else yet).

EDIT: Found good way to get an image.  At least post numbers incremented.

Here's the worst offenders I have found.  But some are given more in the hover, but most less.

Tim,

Posts to boards you have access to show in your view.  Sometimes you don't have access to some private boards and then you don't see some total count counts...You should PM me about access to other board archives ....or you know whose name to mention.

Sean seldom posts on "Public " boards...He probably should get some better recognition for his contributions.   I doubt many people would disagree.

That was my first thought, but there is no consistency between the numbers when looking at many people (again, some show a higher hover, most show a lower hover).  And are you saying I have 2000+ posts in a board I no longer have access to? That does bring up a thought.  Where do "archived" post counts go?  Because I would believe I have that many from Version Conversion over the years that have been archived.  Regardless, posts should just count as posts, regardless of where they were done (private, public, or archived).  I make the same argument for kudos and marked solutions.

Don't make the argument to me.  And yes, there is inconsistency in how archives are handled on private boards like beta archives and others...

In the wash.....most community Contributors are recognized for their efforts.   Some contrbutions are currently less likely to be general knowledge than others.  I don't think that the average forum member really cares and only few situations occur where some finer details matter to the top 10% of forum heavy hitters.   It's not like we do it for money!

It has been broken for a long time. Nothing to do with private boards. It's a lithium bug.

(For example, mine has been coerced to 25k, no matter how often I post)

Hi crossrulz,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are aware of this  issue and have captured it to our development backlog. We are tracking this and hope to implement it when priority allows.

Like I said... a few top contributors get some lag in recognition.

Fix it.  Ben deserves it, Christian and Bill deserve it,  Tim...well, Ok help him too...there are others that deserve a bit of recognition for exceeding any average expectations of effort on behalf of the Community.   LabVIEW Community Edition should not be NIs only new commitment to the NI Community.

Just my 0.02 Euros

In other words,  crossrulz made me think....Christian,  I believe that you are incorrect to blame Lithium.  I believe Someone at NI needs to own "Community Recognition " and drive a solution that would be world class standard.

An easy "fix" would be to get rid of these "user-hover-popups". They are not very functional and usually get in my way. 🙂

(The user homepage has the correct numbers, and I usually shift-click on a username anyway to get more info.)

There are a few different issues here that I would like to address -

There are known issues:

- Across the community -- on the user profile, on leaderboards, etc. -- sometimes the stats displayed are inconsistent. This has been occurring for quite some time and we are always actively attempting to address this with our community vendor. However, this is a display issue, not a data issue.

- As altenbach mentioned, we recently discovered the hover card is limited to counting up to 25K posts. We have a ticket in our backlog to have our developers work on a potential fix for this.

There are limitations:

- Some areas of the community displays stats based on the access you have.

- Archived content still counts towards your stats. Any rank ups or achievements earned would come from the overall count - regardless if your content has been archived. This is not the case for deleted content, but we rarely ever delete content anymore.

There are past issues:

- Yes, previously in the past the rank up for Knights was not being calculated correctly. This has since been remedied. No one should be "lagging" in their recognition anymore.

Behind the scenes for the last few months, we have been working on improving the community recognition features in the community. As it has been pointed out, the longstanding system had some flaws in it and was even a bit convoluted (did you know there are 16 different Member ranks?). We will be revising our ranks to make them more clear, changing the rank calculations to ensure users are ranking up for not just quantity but quality posts, and adding community achievements. New and long-time users will get more recognition than before.

Look for more information on this in the upcoming weeks.

Thanks,

Lili
