Field Point 1601 Module Connection to wireless LAN

Hi,

I am curious if there is a way to connect the FP1601 units to a wireless LAN. Most wireless adapters connect to USB ports, I was curious if anyone had any experience trying this.

Thanks,

Hello S Nate
It is possible, and we do it.
Just buy an ordinary Wlan AP, and connect it to the FP with Rj-45 cable (Cross Cable recommended).
In addition, u have to config the AP to work as a "station".
Success

Thanks! This is what I suspected, but wanted to double check with those who were more experienced to find any other possible solutions. Have you done this/know of someone who has? i.e. do you have any specific AP models your would recomend?

Any AP with a RJ45 connection (which is probably all of them) should be OK, you just set it up as part of your network and access the FP just like it's on your LAN. You should just make sure that your reception quality is good enough. At the moment we use APs by Edimax which are fairly cheap, easy to set up and don't seem to break down.
