Frequency measurement

I am trying to configure a Fieldpoint FP-CTR-502 to read values from an anemometer (Campbel Scientific A100R Switching) but I have no sucess.

I tried to follow the example at "http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=110&message.id=3619" but have no sucess. When I run the .vi I get the error "Error 32812 occurred at  The specified tag name was not found. : FP Write.vi"

I am using Labview 8, Field point 4.1 and MAX 4.0.

Any help would be very helpfull, because I am realy very novice with all these Fieldpoint and Labview Stuff.

Thank you,
Márcio

Hi Stefan,

Thank you very much for your reply.
Now I get "Output 0" led flashing!! Wonderfull... 🙂

This first problem is solved, but now I have an other problem...

Read Reset mode is not intended to be used with FieldPoint Ethernet network modules, and this is my case.

In the example I have used is suggested to use Read Reset mode. I realy dont know what should I do to solve this problem because all examples I found uses this mode. Do you have any suggestion?

Thank you,
Márcio

Márcio,

the thing with the read reset mode is, that the reset is initiated by software and therefore has a certain latency. So if you don't read the value not to often from the counter module (let's say twice a second or so - should be possible) and reset the counter after that, it should not be a problem. For faster readings don't reset the counter's register, but calulate the register value incrementally (build the difference between the actual value and the preceeding and use this difference for calculating the windspeed).

We successfully did this with some applications in the past and I hope this also helps you with your application

Cheers, Stefan

Thank you again Stefan...

I wonder if you could send me some example code (.vi and .iak) of this kind of application.

The more I read about Labview the more I feel confused. Labview is a great software but I really have a lot to learn.

Regards and Happy Holidays

Hi,

I am still looking for the solution to my problem... Is there anybody from NI available to help-me?

The idea I had from Labview was that it was an easy software to use and to configure... but I am really desappointed... nothing works

Hi,
Try to look at the software version you have on the FieldPoint module, and compare it to the version on your computer. They have to match exactly.

I had the same problem until today. I installed LabVIEW 8.0, but I didn't upgraded the softwares on my FP-2000. When I was trying to read and write with FieldPoint read.vi from my computer, it worked. But if the same VI was executed on the FP-2000 target, I had the error 32812. And the TAG names was exactly the same...
Now with juste this update, it works!

And I reassure you, LabVIEW is very simple to configure, but you have to care about some importants but little things...
