How do I upgrade/reinstall the firmware in my cFP-2020?

My cFP-2020 started giving me four flashes on the status LED   I've tried reseting, to no avail.  Then I reformatted the Compact Flash (internal).  The status LED then flashes twice (error in firmware).  I have not been able to locate a procedure for downloading and installing the firmware update or re-installation.  HELP!!!

Hi!
What do you see in MAX? Is the device present? Do you see it as unconfigured?

I remember I had the same problem, but it was almost 1 year ago, I don't remember how I solved, but I'm sure you can come out with it... maybe restarting cFP in safe mode, or resetting IP (always with DIP switches).

Let me know, I'll try to help...

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.  I'm using MAX 4.1.0.3001.  The cFP-2020 shows up in remote systems as 0.0.0.0 after I format the disk and reboot.  When I assign an IP adress (or use DHCP, no difference), it shows up as the assigned IP address.  That's when I get the two flash signals that means that "The cFP-20xx has detected an error in it's firmware."  When I try to "Update OS" in MAX, it shows the Version on the remote and Avaiable verion on host as the same (10.4) and the "update" button is greyed out  There doesn't seem to be a way in MAX to reinstall the OS.

Is there a way other than MAX to install/ re-install/ update the firmware?

Is there a way to fool MAX into "updating" the firmware with the same version?

Am I correct in assuming that the "OS" and the firmware are the same thing?

Thanks for any assistance that you can provide.

Hi!
Today I have some problems with Lan, so for me it's a little bit messy to test with fieldPoint, anyway... last time I solved the problem with MAX, have you tried to enable/disable safe mode? Did Safe mode switch remained to safe mode?

I'm still trying to test my field ponts, when I'll get some result I'll let you know...

Hi
With my MAX I am able to re-install components, even if version on host and version on target are the same.

   Let me know.... bye!

Hi Graziano,

I know how busy it can get at times!  Thanks for the time that you've spent on this so far.

I can re-install all the other software, even if they are the same version, But MAX has the "Update OS" button greyed out if the OS versions are the same.  When I re-install the other software, after getting the two flash code; I get a four flash code (unrecoverable error).  The unit still shows up in "Remote Systems", but will not detect devices.  That's about the time that I've been formatting the disk and starting over yet again.

Thanks,

Gary

Hi!
No, I never experienced an un-recoverable error... but I think it is useless to keep formatting C drive, maybe it's better to contact NI tech support, also to check warranty....

Sorry to be not so helpful... anyway, have a nice day!

Smiley SadI think you're right.  I think that I'll replace this one, and check with NI about a repair.

Thanks, so much, for your time.

Hi!
What happened to you can be interesting, please, if you have time, report the next steps (I mean, NI is going to fix your module some way, or they just replace it, or there is a software method to fix the problem.......).

  Have a nice day!
