IAK file does not update item names on network modules (FP1601)

Hi All

I have a rather irritating problem and I am really hoping that someone can help with a solution. My system consists of a FP2015 controller with 9 I/O modules and a FP1601 network module with 2 I/O modules.

When I edit the IAK file, the corresponding files : fpremote.ini, fpbank.ini, from the NI-RT/SYSTEM/ folder on the FP target do not update. Since I am using the information in these files to open a refnum to a write/read FP.vi then I run into problems. Somehow just changning the item names in MAX is not enough to make the changes happen on the FP target. Needless to say I am saving and downloading the changes.

As indicated on the two attachments, the tags on the 2015 bank update ok, but on the 1601 network module they do not. This creates a mismatch between the configuraitons and I have seen that the network modules simply are deleted from the IAK file after a close/reopen of the IAK file. Then I have to "find devices" again. The latter occurence I have not been able to reproduce and document.

Hi Søren,

The project seems to maintain it's own IAK file separate from the one used by MAX.  You may try to set everything up in the project, then deploying the IAK file through the project.  That IAK file should show up on your system as <projectname>.iak.  Open this IAK in MAX, and all the correct settings should appear in there.  From then on, any changes in MAX and the project should appear correctly, especially when downloaded to the fieldpoint unit.
