Problems Using two cFP together

Hi, I'm new to cFP and I have a problem using two cFP-2020 together by the ethernet net. If I use just one, I could acquire the data from the modules without problem with LabVIEW. But if I try to connect then to a hub (10 Mbs) and connect this hub to my computer, I can't acquire it. And, when I go to the MAx and see the "Remote Systems", the cFP's don't appear with broken wires like when the ethernet cables aren't connected.

Any help will be appreciated.

The Cat5 cable which you used to connect PC to cFP is probebly a cross one, and may be not good for connecting them with some old hubs.

Dear tst, thanks for your answer.

I saw the cFP documentation and noticed if I want use just one cFP connecting it to my computer I need to use the Cross Over cable (Is this the cable you called like "Cross One"?). And I used this cable and I was able to use one cFP alone.
And I saw if I want use to cFP connecting it to a hub, I need to use a normal cable.

Hi letreca,

When you go into MAX and expand "Remote Systems", do you see both cFP systems appear? What are their status in the right hand side panel (e.g. Connected)? If they're connected, that means you're communicating with them, in which case are you able to monitor their values from "Data Neighbourhood" in MAX? If you can, try running a LV example program to make sure it's not a coding issue. Are you getting a specific error when reading through LV, or just not getting any data?

If you can't communicate with the cFP units through MAX, I want to confirm if you were connected directly from your ethernet card to your cFP module when you had one cFP connected? If so, you probably had the network settings on your computer configured as described below. When connecting through the hub, you may have to reset the network settings of your computer (perhaps back to "Get IP address from DHCP").

You can also try resetting the IP addresses of your cFP modules, and testing out the other cFP module independently to make sure they're both functioning properly.

Hi Lesley,

I can communicate with one cFP a time module when I connect it directly to my computer ethernet card with a crossover cable. But when I try to communicate with two cFP module at the same time connecting them to a hub using normal cables, I can't do this. And, if I go to the MAX, the cFP's appear without broken wires and appears a message "Connected - Running", but when I try to make same measurement on Data Neighborhood-->FieldPoint Items, appears a message "Unable to connect to the data item on the module"

Are you connecting to the FieldPoint modules through a local area network? When your computer was connected to the cFP directly, it was set up as a stand-alone machine, and not for connection to a local area network. If you're connecting through a network, please verify that your computer settings have been reconfigured (see link from previous post).

A few troubleshooting suggestions:
- Try pinging the IP addresses of the cFP modules (Start >> Run ; type in ping ) to make sure it's in use by another computer
- Reset the cFP and assign a new IP address

Hi Lesley, thanks for your answer.

This weekend I discovered that's to connect these two cFP's together I needed to connect them to the hub using a normal cable and to connect the hub to my computer using a crossover cable. I did it and them start to work fine.
