Signal Express does not see USB 5132

Solved!

Hello, I am trying to stream data from both channels of my new USB 5132, to disk.  Attempts to do this with the on-board C# examples have not been successful as in my related post at http://forums.ni.com/t5/High-Speed-Digitizers/5132-quot-The-format-of-the-string-is-not-supported-qu... .  So now I am trying to work with Signal Express.  The problem is that Signal Express does not seem to recogize the 5132, although NI-Scope's Soft Front Panel does, and MAX does.  Signal Express produces an error that says there are no recognized devices with a digital line input or with a digital port input.  I have tried to check the status of the 5132 in NI-DAQ/NI Device Monitor, but the Device Monitor will not start.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can get going with my 2-channel data streaming?

Regards,

Penny

The USB-5132 is an NI-SCOPE device, so you will need to use the NI-SCOPE acquisition step (Acquire Signals » NI-SCOPE Acquire) to acquire data from it.  Make sure you install NI-SCOPE after you install SignalExpress or the step will not be installed.

Thanks for the info.  I uninstalled NI-Scope and then reinstalled it, but I still do not have Acquire Signals » NI-SCOPE Acquire in Signal Express.   I did get an error on the NI-Scope install, and am attaching a screenshot of it.  Could this be causing the problem?

Thanks,

Penny

Also, the 5132 is still working under the NI-Scope Soft panel and in the MAX test panels.  Just not under Signal Express.  I have NI-Scope 3.8.1 and SignalExpress 2011, Windows XP x86 .

Thanks,

Penny

Hi Penny,

Let me make sure of the situation. I believe the issue here is coming from not having the NI-Scope Acquire step available in SignalExpress. The message that you were seeing was calling out the fact that the NI-Scope installation will not be able to add support for the versions of LabVIEW Real-Time and LabWindows/CVI Real-Time you have installed on your computer. The Configuration Support options for the NI-Scope driver will install the functionality to configure hardware using Measurement & Automation Explorer and SignalExpress.

One suggestion I have is to follow the steps laid out in this KB that describe how to find missing steps in SignalExpress. Basically, there is a checkbox under Tools»Options to Show Unlicensed Steps. You should be able to select Yes for this option. Let me know if this helps, thanks!

Hi Joe,

Thank you, it is now fixed.  I followed the steps in the link you sent, and deleted the mxwCacheENG.mxc file.  Then when I restarted Signal Express I found the NI-Scope step and it works!

Best regards,

Penny
