Triggering a NI-5112 board on composite video sgnal

We have to test a composite video signal coming from a DVD with an 5112 digitizer board. We should find an easy solution for triggering on certain positions in the video signal (such as a particular row in the picture) Do you have application ideas or example programs for this? Besides Visual Basic,we are also interested in LabVIEW or CVI solutions

I did a similar project using a 6110. I had to calibrate the color guns of a V coming of the production line.

We used a board built by the customer that allowed me to specify the line I was after to do the measurement.

I do not remeber if the 5112 supported delayed triggering, but that would useful.

Currently the NI-5112 does not have video triggering. However, since you are testing DVD signals you may already be wanting to in corporate vision test to test the picture yeilded by the video test pattern signal as well as measuring the parametric parameters with the 5112, such as sync pulse width.

If this is the case you can incorporate a vision (frame grabber) board to capture the image and have it trigger the 5112 to acquire the line of interest. In this manner you can test the video picture quality with the vision board and the analog signal parameters with the 5112.

If you would like to see an example program which integrates a vision boar
d with the 5112, I could probably dig one up.

Good Luck on your project.

Thanks Michael,

does it mean that I can produce a hardware trigger (e.g. on the RTSI bus) with the NI frame grabber board at a specific line in the picture? If so, I am also interested in an example program.

The NI frame grabber card can either trigger on every line or at the start of the frame and given the timing information of every Horizontal line the 5112 can use a trigger delay to trigger on the requested line. Here is an example that uses the NI frame grabber card to trigger the start of the frame and the 5112 with trigger delay to capture the line of interest. Let me know if you need any further help.

Dear Michale :
In your attachment i can not find the VI example. Any other?
Does that means i must use RTSI BUS cable to link the NI5112 and pci-1411 together?? Thanks!
