dio on PCI-5640R

Hi,
Does anybody have an idea how fast the DIO of the IF-RIO board 5640R can be driven? It doesn't look like a high speed connector and is described as "general purpose". Any tips on how we might push the limits?

We are attempting a high data rate transfer using this output to get a number from one board to another. Ideally we want ~ 10MHZ transfer rates. There seems to be no other way to do a transfer of the mixer output to another board exept via the host at 10-100kHz. Correct me if wrong.

cheers,

Hi – You are correct that the DIO lines are not meant to be high speed digital lines.  Updating the lines at 10 MHz is probably approaching the limits of using the lines.  The lines are meant more for signaling lines than data transfer, but they can be used up to the point that the module’s lines give out.  We do not specify or test the point that the lines may give out due to the update rate.

We have a strange problem with DIO lines (see VIs attached). The alteration of  RTSI_Ref_Clk value does not change DO frequency. It remains unchaged (approx. 5MHz) irrespective of RTSI_Ref_Clk value

Thanks

Hello Tigran,

I believe you are not configuring the RTSI_Ref_Clk correctly. Please look at this post, it should help you figure out your problem:
