Mr. Cole,
(and anybody willing to help)
I appreciate your comment.
This is what the wizard tells us when trying to Fix the problem:
Unknown Hardware Error:
An unknown GPIB hardware error has been encountered. Several of the possible causes for this problem are listed below:
- Your GPIB interface is incorrectly configured in the NI-488.2 Configuration utility.
Solution: Please click on the "Configure Software" button to verify that the GPIB interface is correctly configured.
- The NI-488.2 driver for your GPIB interface failed to load correctly due to a resource conflict.
Solution: Please click on the "Resource Conflict" button for help on resolving resource conflicts under Windows NT. Once you have selected conflict-free resources, you can use the "Configure Software" button to assign those resources to your GPIB interface.
- Your GPIB interface is incorrectly configured or installed.
Solution: Please verify that your GPIB interface is correctly configured and installed. For GPIB hardware configuration and installation instructions, please refer to the "GPIB Hardware Guide" which is installed with the NI-488.2 Software and can be viewed using the "View Documentation" option on the NI-488.2 Software CD autorun utility or through the online help for Measurement & Automation Explorer.
- If your GPIB interface appears to be configured and installed correctly but you still encounter problems, try restarting your computer and rerunning the NI-488.2 Troubleshooting Wizard. If problems persist, contact National Instruments for more help.
I have tried to follow the paths described above. Unfortunately for most of them I need to write the serial number (now I know I dont have to, it should pick it on its own). I guess the problem is that it doesnt recognize the interface as installed.
What should I do? Erase it, and re-install it?
Is there anything else prior to this extreme measure?
Thank you.
