HP 34401A GPIB rqs timeout

I am using LabView 6i on a Win98 machine. NI PCI GPIB board. When using the HP-supplied 34401A vi, I get a timeout (set to default 60s )on a meter read at the rqs. This works on several other systems I have. Same GPIB bd, same meter, but different computers. The GPIB board properties are the same on all systems ( default ).

Any help is appreciated.

Update: As a workaround, I bypassed the wait for RQS and substituted a small delay. The data is available even though it is not reading RQS.
