Hello, I'm having the difficulty to connect tektronix TDS 210 to PC. I'm using GPIB USB HS, Operating system is windows 7 , NI-488-3. The problem is after I installed everything needed for this setup, by using measurement and automation , I cannot detect Tektronix TDS 210. Is this something relate to software, or oscilloscope itself, because GPIB USB HS working very well with other instrument, except this one.

Ok, let's start with the simple things. Does the scope have a unique GPIB address in the system (ie not sharing the address with another instrument)? How long of cables are you using?

how can I find unique address of this instrument

Are there any other instrument on the GPIB bus? If not, then you don't need to worry about the unique address. But there are some instruments where you need to enable the GPIB communication. Dig into the menus of the oscilloscope and find the communication settings. In there should be a GPIB Address and possibly an enable/disable.

No, there is no other instrument on GPIB BUS, how can i dig into the menus of the scope if it cannot detect the instrument. Is there any other way can you teach me.

I'm referring to the menus on the scope itself using the actual buttons and knobs on the scope.

I managed to find the manual for the communication module: http://www.sfu.ca/~jiel/courses/327/bin/TDS200-Extension_Modules.pdf
If you go to the GPIB section, you will see that you need to go to Utilities->Options->GPIB Setup on the scope. Under that menu is a Bus Connection. It should be set to Talk-listen in order for you to be able to talk to the instrument.
