Commands in Labview for communicating with Xantrex XTR 300-2.8

Hi!

I have a problem with communicating with my Xantrex XTR 300-2.8
power supply. I'm using USB-interface, and my computer creates a
virtual COM-port. I can write and read commands to the power supply
through Hyperterminal, but the commands won't work in LabView when
I try communicating through a VISA-session. Does anyone know a
certain syntax I have to use?

Hello Børild,
I recommend downloading and installing the IVI driver for your instrument and then looking at the examples that are part of the LabVIEW wrapper VIs.  The driver developer already went to the trouble of learning the instrument commands and implementing most if not all of them in the driver.  In order to use the IVI driver, you will need to install the IVI Compliance Package.  Let us know if you have any problems.

Cheers,

Hi!

I've done all this, but it still doesn't work. I managed
to read/write to the power supply yesterday, but I'm
writing commands, like in Hyperterminal, to set the
voltage level etc.

Hi Børild,

Could you please elaborate on what you mean by it doesn't work?  Providing screenshots, error codes, error messages, your VI's and/or code would allow us to understand the problem and help you debug it.

Let us know.

Berk

Hi,

When you mention

"but the commands won't work in LabView when I try communicating through a VISA-session"

are you seeing an error? can you please add more details along with the versions of the driver, LV, VISA, and ICP?

and possibly create a NI Spy Capture?
