Go to the Device Manager, If the USB is still visible even after being disconnected I would suggest talking to the manufacturer for help. For your windows PC, the device is still connected. Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Im still a bit confused about your solution. The article describes what to do when a device is attached but you cant communicate with it. I have a problem where visa is still comunicating with a device that is no longer attached nor present in the device manager.

Hi MDKF, Can you please provide screenshots showing this device entry in MAX and the device manager. Does the device appears under the list of  VISA Aliases? Check the article "How Can I Remove Resource Names From the VISA Resource Name Constant or the VISA Aliases Editor?". Back up visaconf.ini and move it to a different directory to allow VISA to regenerate the visaconf.ini, which would clear the problem. I hope this helps

Hi. The Ini file does not contain an alias for any of the devices this has happened with. I have attached a screenshot of MAX.

Take a look at the article "Why is NI-VISA Unable to Control my USB Device?", I believe it can give you more information. I was thinking...if you uninstall everything and start from scratch perhaps you can avoid this issue.

Im not sure what that article has to do with this issue. The VISA driver installed fine, and the device is not in ap particular class.
