GPIB Drivers Windows 2000

I've installed a GPIB-PCI on one computer, but unsuccessfully on an other. The computer not working has the exact same hardware as the one that is working.

When I go to Device Manager to attempt to reinstall the driver, it looks for a *.inf file. Looking at the driver of the working computer, it shows it's driver is gpibpci.sys (under the c:/winnt/system32/drivers/) in the directory. Any ideas? It also looks for a USB device, but it's a fresh install of Windows 2000.

Thanks!

First, make sure that the appropriate NI-488.2 driver was installed before the PCMCIA-GPIB card. Make sure that you do not have NI-488.2 version 1.1 (which is for the GPIB-USB-A) installed. If you do, uninstall it. To find the driver, go to:

http://www.ni.com/support/gpib/versions.htm

If you are still having problems, you may need to attach the driver. To attach the NI-488.2 driver to the PCMCIA-GPIB card, go to Device Manager (Start\Settings\Control Panel\System\Hardware). In the Device Manager, right click on GPIB card under "Other Devices" and go to "Properties". Click on the "Update Driver" button. Click next on the first panel. Select "Search for a suitable driver". On the next panel select "Specify a location". Use the browse button to navigate to c:\win
nt\inf and click OK. This should tell Windows to search that location for the driver. Once the driver is found, click Next, then Finish. The board should now show up as a "National Instruments GPIB Interface" in the Device Manager.

If this does not work for you, please contact us either by phone or email. Start this process by going to www.ni.com/ask.

Good luck.
