Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
The difference between GPIB-PCII/PCIIA is in the way they implement the input/output (I/O) address(es) and interrupt schemes for the board.

The mode that the device is in, is switched using the dipswitches. From the Getting Started with Your GPIB-PCII/IIA and the NI-488.2™ Software for MS-DOS manual, the version determines the default configuration of the board. More information can be found in the GPIB Hardware Guide and Specifications manual.
