Hello,
The only driver that we have available for RedHat 64 bit is for Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS 5. That driver can be found here: http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/1000/lang/en Please note that this driver is a beta and has not been tested to the same standards as other drivers.

Thanks Caleb,
I'm fairly new to Linux, so when I unzipped the file and tried running the install script I got this error:
"Kernel Source does not appear to be installed for the 2.6.9-55.ELsmp kernel. Installation of the Kernel source package for kernel 2.6.9-55.ELsmp is required to continue installation"
Is this just saying I need to upgrade my Redhat Linux to version 5.0, which is what the driver was designed for?

Hi Tony,
Did you run the install script with a sudo command before it (just type sudo <command> )? I have heard of people who were successful in installing drivers on different versions of Linux, but I have not heard of this specific case being successful.

Hi Caleb,
Yes, I tried installing it with "sudo" and I got the same error. I think I will have to update my version of Linux

You, need to install the "kernel-devel" package. This driver may work on RHEL 4, but it is better to use RHEL 5.

Does anyone know if the Redhat Linux 64 bit platform has the same restriction as RHEL 32 bit does, where any kernel level USB driver > 2.6.25 HAS TO BE GPL compliant?
(i.e. not being able to use GPIB-USB-HS and the NI 488.2 driver in the latest Linux kernel releases )
thanks.

Well, RHEL 5 has a 2.6.18 kernel so NI-488.2 will still support the GPIB-USB-HS.
