GPIB USB HS keithley 6487

Dear All

I would like to us NI GPIB HS to control keithley 6487. Can I use the software supplied by the manufacturer Excelinx, which is I think written in C++. Is this possible or I need a LabView drive?

Why don't you ask Keithley if their software can control their hardware?

OF course, there software control there hardware if you conect directly between the keithley and the PC. In my case, I used the NI GPIB controller between them. When I try to configure the keithley, the pc does not see the the keithley

So you are saying that the Keithley software CANNOT control their hardware. Any issues you have with their software should be referred to them. As long as the GPIB controller is recognized in MAX and you can communicate to the instrument, there's not much anyone else can do.

NO, I said clearly that keithley software CAN control  their hardware. The problem is that, when I connect the keithly using NI GPIB, their software CAN NOT see the keithley. I am asking is it possible to configure the instrument connected to NI GPIB USB using third part software or I have to use LabView

It's pretty clear that you CANNOT control the instrument with an NI controller and Keithleysoftware so you need to contact Keithley. It's also pretty clear that you can use any number of programming languages instead. LabVIEW is one such option.

The Keithley website explicitly stated support for NI GPIB controllers so that just reinforces what I've been saying about your need to contact Keithley itself.
