GPIB USB HS will not work on 3 PCs. Did work on old PC.

Solved!

I have a GPIB-USB-HS that I have use before on my older laptop. I have refreshed to a new laptop and the it will not install. I keep getting a message that it can not find the drivers. I have installed the visa430full.exe and when I try to install either ni488225.exe or ni488227.exe it has a message the there is a legacy version 488.2 and remove it. I have done this with the Add Remove Program in windows. It still says that I have a legacy version 488.2. What do I need to do to fix this? I need to get it fixed soon as I am to start a test. I am using Labview 7.1 (I know it is the old version) and Windows XP sp2 on all 3 PC’s, 2 laptops one less than a month old and one desktop.

I appreciate any help.

Thanks

Gerald

Well I finally got the drivers to install and recognize the GPIB adapter but I am now getting errors on code that worked before. I think I have jacked around and changed or deleted too much in the process. I have read about NI software that would completely remove everything so I could do a clean install and add the updates correctly. Could someone please let me know where to find that? I found this in a thread that helped me figure out what I was doing wrong (Control Pane>>Add/Remove Programs>>National Instruments Software>>NI-488.2). I did not know that is would open another menu and you could select what you wanted to remove. That was about 9 hours to learn a valuable lesion one that I will not forget.

It might be a bit radical but was this the tool you were looking for?

Thank you for the response. I did get it to work and it is working great. I did uninstall and do a fresh reinstall on one laptop and on the other PC’s I just uninstalled the NI-488.2 and reinstalled the 2.7 version. I had tried to install the 2.7.1 version and in you links there was a chart for compatibility. That was very helpful since I could not use the 2.7.1 with the labview 7.1 software.

Thanks again for the help and this  issue is solved.
