GPIB

Hello,

I have to make two programs communicate on the same computer.

One of them has already a part which is programmed to communicate with
another computer through GPIB.

It is possible to keep this GPIB communication structure, but with the
addressee being the same as the sender (using the same GPIB card)?

Thank you for any information!

Hi Mathieu,

so if I understand, you wish to read data on the same port that you're sending data on. Unfortunately, the GPIB card can't read and write at the same time, so this would not be possible.
You could do it if you had two seperate GPIB cards connected together, but I don't think this is what you are looking for.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have further questions on the subject.

Thanks for your reply!

Unfortunately, this is what I thought...

How about the secondary address? What is this used for?

Hi Mathieu,

the secondary address is used for only certain GPIB devices.
Some devices may provide extended addressing because they can have modules plugged into them.
This will unfortunately not help you further.

Hope this helps.
