Insufficient location information, on iDRC Power supply via Ethernet

Good morning (at least here Smiley Happy),

I try to connect to a Programmable DC Power Supply - iDRC, DSP-060-025HD.

I connected the instrument to the Ethernet connection on my laptop directly.

When I open NI MAX i see -

NI MAX.JPG

(What does the warning sign mean?)

Trying to open VISA test panel I get -

Test panel.JPG

And yet I am able to access the device via chrome browser -

Browser.JPG

And indeed the VISA address string does match whats displayed on MAX.

I was also able to successfully ping the device.

Labview visa open with the same VISA address string gives the same error as MAX.

Anyone has an idea about what the issue could be?

Hi!! Have you tried uninstalling and then installing back the drivers?

There's a similar forum posted a few years ago:

Hope this helps!!

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I managed to get over the problem eventually.

Two things caused my issues -

1. Seeing as I can communicate with the device via browser I didn't bother to set my IP as static at first.

2. According to instructions, I set up an IVI resource name on VISA which was not functioning properly.
when I used the regular VISA resource name AND set static IP things were working properly.
