The card did not come with LabVIEW. You got a certain version of NI-488.2 with LabVIEW 6 but the GPIB controller can be used with any version of LabVIEW. You might want to download the latest version of NI-488.2 and NI-VISA and if you do, those versions can also be used with LabVIEW 6.
p.s. You only need LabVIEW 8 if you want to use the native LabVIEW driver. The IVI and CVI drivers can be used with older versions. If you want to use LabVIEW 6, download the CVI version and use Tools>Instrumentation>Import CVI Instrument Driver. I think you'd be better off upgrading to 8.5 though.
