NI-MAX 4.2.1

It seems that the NI-MAX 4.2.1 is closing rather abruptly when I click on Remote Systems [+].

I am specifically trying to find my Fieldpoint devices (software version 6.0) and cannot find them at all.

I have reset the FP-1601 once, but am now trying to re-configure so we can use it.

Is there a newer version of NI-MAX that might fix this problem?

Hello Oley,

Yes, the new version of NI-MAX that came out with NI-FieldPoint 6.0 is NI-MAX 4.3.  You should be able to install this newer version from the driver CD that included NI-FieldPoint 6.0.

Problem is that I didn't get 6.0 from a disc, I got it from an associate of yours.

Will I have to wait till I get a disc?

Hi Oley,

Can you please try to use the August Driver CD to reinstall FieldPoint 6.0?  This should upgrade NI-MAX to version 4.3 and should resolve your issue.  If you do not need anything other than FieldPoint, you should be able to deselect all other components that will be installed by the driver CD.

When you say you did not get it from disk, do you mean you did not get it from an installer?  Did you copy files manually?  How did you get FieldPoint 6.0 installed on your machine?  If you ran an installer, what installer did you run?

Kalin Taskov sent it to me via ftp.  The zip file was located as follows:  ftp://ftp.ni.com/outgoing/marko.zip

I installed it that way and am still having some issues.  After installing Fieldpoint 4.3 (got it through Serial 3.3), it does not display any Data Neighborhood, Devices and Interfaces, Historical Data, Scales, Software, IVI Drivers, nor Remote Systems icons in the left pane.

Also, I previously had a Fieldpoint listing under the Tools menu before, where I could Save and Save As Fieldpoint configurations.  Not yet under 4.3.

I'm going to wipe my PC and try from the beginning.  Try an install of Serial 3.3 (thus including MAX 4.3, then install Fieldpoint 6.0) and see if i can find my FP-1601.

Hi Oley Mich,

I'd like to clarify, FieldPoint 6.0 does not require MAX 4.3.  It should work if installed correctly, but what Kalin sent you does not install all of the necessary componenets.  I have seen MAX "crash" if FieldPoint 6.0 is installed using the files Kalin sent you instead of the driver CD.

Can you try to uninstall FieldPoint 6.0 and reinstall it from the August 2007 Driver CD?  This should resolve your issue.

Please let me know if you have any trouble with this.
