I was able to get this to work very reliabily in LV 2017(fall) using the close input device.vi and Initialize Joystick.vi in response to the error -20000000008 that occurs when the controller is disconnected and reconnected on a machine using windows 7. Keep in mind the software was developed on a windows 7 machine. I tried the same on a windows 10 and it did not work using a vi developed on windows 10. In windows 10 I get error -20000000006 when the controller is unplugged and the close and reopen routine does not work. I have to close and reopen the labview vi for the controller to work again.
