Serial communication, signal genration

Good morning,

I m new user of LabVIEW.
I was required to drive a diode lazer "lazer photonics".
I designed the required waveform ( a combination of zero, a ramp and modulation).

A controller should generate this signal and send it to the lazer.

My problem is:

How can I send my code to the controller?
There is no Instrument driver for my controller, SO I choose to use VISA and Serial port since my instrument does have an RS 232 input.

Does VISA allow me to do this? If not, what do you suggest me to do?

I used the example"read and write through RS 232"

What Should I send, waveform or Bytes?

Thank you for your support. I appreciate any ideas

Hi

Hi VISA can do both, it is the LAZER that decides hhow the message should be sent.
Look in the programming manual of the lazer how it wants the information.

greetings from the Netherlands

Hello,

If you don't have a programming manual for the lazer you must contact the company or distributor and they can help you acquire the necessary material.
