how can I  use the PXI-8420 multi port serial communication module at the  matlab xPC target environment?.

I want to use 8 serial ports on the PXI module with matlab xPC target. There are two ploblems.

the one is that  matlab does not  support  the  PXI-8420 driver block and the other is that It is hard to find the spec. of PXI-8420.

I've tried to modify the S-function which possese the information of IRQ and BASE Address of PXI-8420 but it was not easy.

Is there any idea that I can easily access the PXI-8420 serial  port and apply it into xPC target environment?

Hi bumby,

Unfortunately, we don't currently support the PXI-8420/8 on the xPC OS.

Then Is there any clear solution to use more than 8 serial RS-232 port and xPC target solution with PXI1042 controller.

All other units (ADconverter, DA conveter ect) on the PXI1042 controller are available by xPC target.

It is not easy to change all system design policy because of the slight shortage for the serial bus.

Hi bumby,

While the PXI-8420 is fully compatible with the PXI-1042 chassis, it is only supported on the following operating systems: Windows 2000, XP, and LabVIEW RT.  I don't feel qualified to say what other solutions there may be for the xPC target.  You may want to contact MathWorks to see what serial boards they support.
