how do I turn on dc bias isolation in the hp 4284 using labview

I am using it to measure leaky mos capacitors with high k gate dielectrics and I could not find a sub vi in the drivers I downloaded. I was trying to communicate with the instrument using some assembly like strings but that does not seem to work

Hello Sachin,
Do you know if your instrument supports this action through software? We discussed your issue here and I'd suggest you to make sure first if 'dc bias isolation' can be set on and off through software on hp 4284. If yes, then a vi can be written for this. However, as you have already mentioned, we'll still need to find out what string command is required for this communication (from manuals, datasheets, etc.)

Again, thank you for choosing National Instruments!

I figured it out, I just had the syntax wrong. it seems that each kind of command needs a different prefix to tell the instrument what kind of command it it.

It is there in the manual but being lazy, manuals are the last thing I read 😉
