Linux crashes when I click on a VISA resource constant (block diagram) or control (front panel). This happens on LabVIEW 2009 SP1 32-bit for Linux, running on CentOS 6.3 (similar to RedHat 6.3). I updated the VISA drivers to 5.1.2 and that didn't help. Thanks in advance for any ideas from the five Linux guys out there.

Hello Marvin,
How many GB of RAM does your computer have? If you have more than 4GB of RAM, then you can fix this by using 2 GB of RAM. This is a known issue and a Corrective Action Request (CAR#184364) was filed. I hope that this helps!

Hello Jason, thanks very much for your reply. I purchased and installed a 2GB RAM stick for this purpose. Unfortunately LabVIEW still crashes when I edit a VISA control. Any other ideas? Is my bug different than the known bug? Is this fixed in LV 2012?
Thanks,
Marvin

Hello Marvin,
Could you tell me if the program crashes when you create the VISA resource object, or just when you are trying to select a device from the list? Do the shipping examples work? If you are connecting to an Agilent device, the Agilent I/O Libraries Suite was not compatible with the most recent versions of VISA until version 15.0, so updating that suite may be helpful. In terms of the CAR I mentioned, it sounds like the issue you are running into may be different than the one specified, due to the workaround not resolving the issue.

Hello Jason,
My problem was resolved with LabVIEW 2012. To answer your question, LabVIEW would crash only when trying to select a device from the list. Thanks for your help.

Marvin
