linux kernel panic nigpib-0.8.3 w gcc3.2.1

I'm getting kernel panics with gcc 3.2.1 compiled kernel, and nigpib modules for a PCI gpib card. I downloaded the 0.8.3 version of nigpib and built the modules. When installed, the kernel tells me that it is version 0.8.2. A diff of the 0.8.2 and 0.8.3 directories shows differences between the two, so the version issue may be a red herring. I've successfully used nigpib modules on linux systems up kernel 2.4.18 and gcc 3.1.

I used both code I compiled and the ibic program. ibdev works, ibwrt generates an immediate kernel panic.
I've attempted this with both a 2.4.19 kernel and 2.4.20 kernel. Any suggestions? Can someone confirm that gcc 3.2.1 works with their nigpib card? This card is getting up there in age (7-8
years), could this be a symptom of a dying card?

Thanks,
Bernie

Hi Bernie,

The versioning issue was a mistake in the packaging of the driver. Pleas get the 0.8.4 driver from ftp.ni.com/support/gpib/linux/ to fix up that problem.

"I've successfully used nigpib modules on linux systems up kernel 2.4.18 and gcc 3.1."

Does this mean that you have used this driver on 2.4.18 and earlier kernels?

Deos syslogd catch anything related to the kernel panic? Is there any extra information you can give me about the panic?
