problems with agilent mainframe 3499A and IVI driver to configure multiplexers

Hello,

I am using the IVI driver from NI for the agilent switch mainframes 3499A. In some slots I have also multiplexers which have to be configured

I have the following problem:

In my testsequence I am terminating the execution if some tests have been failed.

Some relays are closed for these tests.

In the Post UUT alle relays are opend with the IVI step.

At the beginning of the next UUT I configure my multiplexers again (all with IVI)

When I want to test a next UUT now I can´t close the relays of the multiplexers and there is no error message

When I reset the mainframes 3499A and try it again then it is ok.

How can I solver this problem?

3 years ago I had this problem with the 3499A.  The open all command caused the firmware to lockup.  I contacted Agilent about this and they confirmed it was an issue with their firmware.  I don't know if there was ever a fix.  The work around I used was to enumerate all the switches and open them one by one.  Slower, but it worked.

You can test your instrument by going into MAX and opening the communicate with instrument panel.  Send the command Open All.  If this causes the instrument to lock up, it's a firmware issue and you should contact Agilent.
