Delete object from wire and auto-reconnect wire

Status: Declined
Available in NI LabVIEW 2009

I'd like to be able to delete an object from an existing wire and then have that wire be automatically reconnected.  Currently a broken wire is left after deleting something and one must manually reconnect the wire.  This would be the opposite of the popup option to Insert something.  Some deletions may produce a maze of broken wires that would be difficult to determine what to auto-reconnect but perhaps situations where there is only one broken wire (for example removing a Numeric Increment function (+1) from a wire) could be handled.

OK, so how does it work? I can't figure out how to use that in LV 2010...

Pick the object.  Ctrl-space to get quick drop.  Control-R to remove.

I finally found where this feature is...

View>> Quick Drop (Ctrl-Space)

then Shortcuts>> Ctrl-Key Shortcuts

then Ctrl-R.

The description of the "Plug-In", as it is called, is:
"Removes the selected block diagram object(s) and any wires and constants connected to the selected object(s), and connects wires of identical data types that were wired to the inputs and outputs of the deleted object(s)."

Of course Ctrl-R is a bad shortcut (at least on my system), as it runs the VI...

I tried replacing this shortcut with a more innocuitous one (Ctrl-K), and... it does not do anything.

The selected object sort of blinks, but stays there and is certainly not replaced by reconnected wires.

I am missing something. Somebody kind enough to help?

Thanks.

It works for me.  Did you click the set button?

Did you remember to hit Ctrl-Space before hitting Ctrl-R (now Ctrl-K since you changed it)?

I want to replace data entry which is in ring to Enum but when I do this in the front panel, in my block diagram the data wire broken, there is a message you have connected two terminal of differnt types.

How I can recoonect the wire in block diagram?
