Disconnect and grab a wire already connected using the WireTool

Status: New

So far there is no difference if we click with the (empty) WireTool on an already existing wire or instead we click on a glyph, in the small flashing black box representing a (already connected) connection. Both operations start a new wire branch. What about if in the latter case, instead of starting the new branch, the (empty) WireTool disconnected the already connected wire, grabbing it?

The grabbed wire should become "marching ants" as usual, making clear that we are now rewiring the connection.

As soon as we "grab" a wire, the operation should become identical to a "normal" wire connection, in all its aspects. For instance we could change mind and delete the whole wire with a simple right click (and this could be another way for deleting a wire without using the keyboard).

This operation should be startable from both sink and output terminals.

The only thing we would have to remember is the difference between to click on a wire and to click on a connector. The difference between the two places is already made clear, even in a very short wire, by the fact that the connector's area starts to flash when we are on it before we click.

This idea comes up in my mind reading this Steen's idea, with wich it integrates very well. The sum of the two ideas would make the rewiring of every kind of connections very quick and easy. So, if you like my proposal and you vote for it, I think you should also vote for the Steen one

Cheers.

Marco.

A similar idea including your idea has already been posted a week ago (And I'm sure more often in the past): see here

@PNR.Thanks, I knew about the Steen idea, but I think mine is different and can be seen as an indipendent part of it.

In fact the idea close to mine, included in the Steen's idea... is mine Smiley Wink

I also declared this fact, as you can read in my sentence:

- This idea comes up in my mind reading this Steen's idea, with wich it integrates very well. The sum of the two ideas would make the rewiring of every kind of connections very quick and easy. -

The Steen's idea do not automatically include mine part, so I decided to post my part as an indipendent idea.

Cheers.
