Currently my problem is that I cannot view any files that a former Labview programmer (seperated from the organization and no one else knows where he stored information) wrote for my company because my computer doesn't have the software installed. Due to liscensing limitations, it is not wise to install it on all the computers that would potentially need to view Labview codes and programs. I have spent a lot of time on the phone with NI application engineers trying to recover files. Trouble is that I can't view the files therby making it very difficult to know if I'm on the right path or not.
My recommendation to NI is to create a free viewer download for non developers like myself. I am a Quality Manager who's only interest is in auditing my team's work. Another benefit may be to share files easier for viewing purposes only (no editing authority). Other major software companies have done this, such as Adobe PDF viewer and DDI Solidworks viewer, with great success and customer satisfaction.
