Remove the Control-E shortcut from Project Explorer

Status: Declined
Functionality already in LabVIEW

The Control-E shortcut to toggle between Items and Files view in the Project Explorer should go away.  I often have my LabVIEW Project window sitting off to the side and don't realize it has focus.  I hit control-e to get to the block diagram of the front panel that's sitting in the middle of the screen, not realizing it that it's not the active window.  This wouldn't be a big deal - I'd figure out quickly that the wrong window has focus - except LabVIEW stalls for 30+ seconds trying to display the Files view during which time I can't do anything.

No!  I love Ctrl-E.

(I HATE, on the other hand, Ctrl-T)

Oops, upon further reading I discovered that keyboard shortcuts, including that one, can be remapped/removed under Tools -> Options -> Menu Shortcuts - good enough for me.

The problem with remapping the shortcut, is that you only have one shortcut for switching the VI diagram/panel and switching the project Items/Files view.  So, if you remove the shortcut, then toggling the block diagram won't work either.  To me, these are functionally distict operations (toggling the project, and the VI) but they share a hotkey shortcut.  I'm still going to Kudo this idea.  Maybe I would specify more clearly that what I'm looking for is a separate shortcut for toggling the Project View and toggling the VI View.

Incorrect, fortunately.  There are two separate shortcuts and you can disable one without affecting the other in the Menu Shortcuts options panel.

Oops, I apologize.  You are right.  There's a user interface problem here that I didn't notice at first.  If you select Tools->Options from the Project Explorer Window, you get a slightly different list of menu shortcuts than you get when you select Tools->Options from a VI window.  When you open the menu shortcuts from the Project Explorer, you get the shortcuts for the Project window, with no indication that it will affect shortcuts for the menu items in a VI window that have a different name but the same shortcut.
