Resizing VI Window (Only) Allows *Saving of Changes

Status: Declined

Any idea that has received less than 2 kudos within 2 years after posting will be automatically declined.

Often I want to only adjust the size of a VI window and then save those changes before building an exe.

Adjusting the window size alone (not in the VI Properties) and then saving does not cause the changes to window size to be saved.  Often I need to do something else to the VI such as move a front panel object and then move it back to invoke saving of changes including window size adjustment.

This sounds more like a bug rather then a new idea.  Have you seen this problem mentioned anywhere else in the forums.

I've been using different version of LabVIEW concurrently and occurs for all of them.  I've been performing this work-around for as long as I can remember..

Therefore my opinion was that it seems like a new idea.

Never Mind.  Message posted in wrong thread.

It works for me in LV 2013 (saving after window resizing keeps the new size).

Perhaps you are confusing the ability to save changes with the display of a dirty dot.  You can save a VI in the absence of a dirty dot and properties like window sizes and locations will be saved.

IMO there should be some indication when a VI in memory does not reflect the VI on disk.

This is not my experience; window size is not saved.  Try it?

LV9,LV12,LV13 all behaved as expected.  No dirty dot after resize, save+close+open keeps the new size.

I've been doing this work-around to get "dirty dot" for as long as I can remember because I've always had window sizes which are not saved.  Perhaps they are dialog UIs or OS dependent.

I just tried on regular VI for LV 2013 and window size saved (without dirty dot).

I then tried it on an UI which contains subpanels, resize the window (maximise and undock) and receive the "dirty dot".
