This sound like a pretty fundamental error in that the installer can't even format the error message properly. Have you tried those installer disks on another computer? I'm thinking you have bad installation disks or perhaps a bad drive.

Well, if the disks are good, there's somthing wrong with the PC. What is different between the PC that works and the one that doesn't?

Rajendra,

You can also copy all of the files from the CD to your hard drive, then try to install from there.  This would eliminate any error that could be happening due to a bad CD read.  If the files cannot be copied over, it is probably an error with the CD drive.

To help us debug this further, I would need an error log file for the installation.  To create one, follow the steps in this KB:

Also, it would be helpful to know any other text found in the Details section of the error dialog, as well as some information on the machine.  Is it a newly reformatted machine?  Are there or have there ever been any NI software products on it?  This information is quite crucial to discovering the cause of this error.

Regards,

Rajendra,

What operating system are you running?  Were you able to generate that error log file?

Mike,

To correct this problem, you will need to update your installer framework to the latest version.  Copy all of the install files to your hard drive, then replace the Setup.exe and NISysInf.dll (found in <root>\bin\)  with the attached files, then run the installer again.  I hope this helps.

Actually Brian it was Rajendra that had the original problem, but I am curious: Under what circumstances might someone need this updated installer framework? Is there a problem with some of the V8.2 disks that were shipped?
