Hi battler,
I'm not familiar with this switch you're talking about. What laptop model do you have?

It's a Sony Vaio VGN-SZ56 (most have stamina/speed switch). I'm not sure how it's relevant..
The point is that without meeting minimum video processing requirements for 3D graphs (whatever they are) then LV crashes without warning.

Hi battler,
We are aware of performance issues of the 3D graph. You must consider that there is some heavy lifting being done by the processor to display these graphs. The switch you are hitting likely offloads some of the graphical responsibilities to a non-mobo graphics cards.
Does LV notify you upon startup that it crashed last time it was run?

Hi Stephen,
No it doesn't notify of previous crash. It only crashes when I open VI with 3D graph (I don't even have to run the VI, just open it).
Oh I'm using Vista...
Still can't change the plot properties of 3D graph even with Speed setting (video on).
Cheers.

Hi battler.,
Can you check <My Documents>\LabVIEW Data\lvfailurelog for any files that may have been created during the crash?

Hi battler,
I have a couple questions for you as well. Had you installed the f3 patch before creating this troublesome VI or was it already in existance when you upgraded? Have you been able to mass compile the VI, if it was the upgrade situation?
Have you experimented with creating new VIs with the 3D graphs and noticed if number of graphs on the front panel affects whether or not it crashes? Do shipping examples with 3D plots also cause the crash?

Hi Kristen,
I have installed the f3 patch. The VI may have been in existence. I use several VIs with 3D graphs. All have the same problem.
The shipped examples crash the same. Sometimes I can alter the plot properties (i.e. when I first drop a 3D graph onto a new VI front panel and dont have any others open), after that I cannot.
Cheers,
Battler.

HI battler,
Going to have to look into this to see what could be happening on the back end.
