Agilent GPIB/USB Interface: National Software doesn't recognize it! What can I do?

From your screenshot, the USB/GPIB converter has the VISA name of GPIB0.
In the "Show Devices" panel, click on the "Auto Add" instruments button
and see what happens. If your instrument address does not show up, use
the manual "Add" button, or check the connection, etc.
Once it shows up in this form, see if that helps the VISA in LabVIEW to find it.

Hope this helps.

One more question:

Is Agilent VISA the only VISA installed or is it installed as a "side-by-side"
VISA? Sometimes in the side-by-side mode it fails to get switched in.

If you do not have any non-Agilent GPIB devices, uninstall Agilent VISA and
the other (probably NI) VISA. Then reinstall Agilent VISA as the main VISA.

Other than that, I'm running out of ideas. But I do know the guy at Agilent who designed
this USB/GPIB converter (I was on the LAN/GPIB project at the time) and I know the Agilent
guy who maintains VISA. If running Agilent VISA as the main VISA does not work,
please let me know and I'll pass this on to them.

The response may be a few days slow. We are currently experiencing
a good blizzard.

SNOW DAY!!!!!!

I've sent this to my friends at Agilent. I'll post a response when I get it.

I had lunch today with the marketing engineer for the 82357. She said that there
is a readme file that describes using the USB/GPIB converter with LabVIEW.
Have you found that file?
If I understood her correctly, she recommends using NI VISA as the primary,
with Agilent VISA as the side-by-side (sorry for the mis-step), but there are
other steps to be taken to activate the device in this side-by-side mode.

If you can't find the readme, please let me know and I'll get a copy.

I am having simular problems with the adgilent usb to IEEE converter. I have installed VISA 3.1.1 and can see my converter and IEEE devices in the devices and interfaces menu but I can't see them or address them in labview 7.1.
I keep getting "VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF00A5) The interface type is valid, but the specified interface number is not configured." as an error. An ideas???

I was having trouble getting an Agilent GPIB card to work with LabVIEW until I did the following:

1. Open NI-MAX
2. In the menu click on Tools->NI-VISA->VISA Options
3. Click on Passports
4. Make sure NiVisaTulip is checked

Of course, I use NI cards if I have a choice, but someone else bought this specific card.

I have done all  the steps you said, and I can see the device in theMAX and also I can control the DDM by the VISA(both NI VISA and agilent VISA, of course NI VISA is the primary VISA)
but I can't control the DMM in LabView. If I change the 82357A to A NI GPIB card , the LabView works good
So I wanna know what's wrong and how I can solve it.
thanks
